Ethiopians stormed a downtown hotel in Calgary, Canada

A CPS member observes the demonstration outside of the Ramada Calgary Downtown hotelA gathering of hundreds of noisy demonstrators mobbed a downtown hotel Sunday afternoon to protest dictatorial conditions in Ethiopia.
A meeting of the Etho-Abay Association of Calgary was being held at the Ramada Downtown Calgary Hotel on 8 Ave. 


S.W. on Sunday at which the Ethiopian Consul General was expected to attempt to secure funds for a controversial dam/bridge building project in the African nation.

Hotel management prevented the protest group from gaining access to the meeting which was being held in one of the building’s conference rooms on a floor above the ground level.  The demonstrators continued their rally in the hotel’s lobby and front entrance.
Police officers responded to the hotel.  The demonstration remained peaceful with protesters chanting and singing their message.
