UDJ’s Western Armachicho Chair arrested

ESAT News  March 26, 2012

Mr. Anagaw Tegegne, Chair of Unity for Democracy and Justice (UDJ) Western Armachicho Branch, Northern Ethiopia, has been arrested by Ethiopian authorities in Sanja City of Tach Aramachiho. He has been heading to visit his families in Gonder when he was detained.

Anagaw, an administrative and security officer in the Region, was arrested four days ago and has not still appeared in court. UDJ’s Newspaper, Finote Netsanet had reported in September 2012 that Anagaw was pressurized to join the Region’s ruling party, the Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM) but refused to join the Movement as a result of which he was ordered to leave the area immediately.
